About the job
The Customs Specialist is responsible for securing that all declarations are accurate, complete and made in compliance with local requirements and regulations as well as with internal controls. He/She will be partnering with key stakeholders to secure all
- border shipments can be imported/ exported compliantly, including alignment with Supply Chain Security requirements.
In this role you will:
- Daily handling of information and documents to or from other IKEA units, external service providers and authorities to ensure timely, accurate and compliant in bond, declaration/entry and release from authorities for imports and exports.
- Secure customs relevant data and documents are available on time to secure timely release of exports. This includes issuance and maintenance of certificates of origin, free trade agreement (FTA) documents, exporter certificates, licenses, attestations, etc.
- Prepare and consolidate necessary data for the customs declarations and submit to brokers or Customs authorities, depending on local country set up. Applies for imports / exports within assigned region or country.
- Secure compliance in every customs declaration - identify, perform analysis, investigations and act as necessary to resolve inaccuracies and deviations.
- Stay permanently updated on the customs operational processes, data, documents, and requirements.
- Identify and share new ways of working in order to contribute and take initiative for constant development of operational efficiencies, recommending solution enhancements and implementing improvements.
- Responsible for updating standard operation procedures/working routines for your assigned tasks, region and/or country.
- Maintain competence and knowledge regarding customs regulatory rules and legislation, import/export industry knowledge, goods flow and customs systems/solutions for assigned region or country.
- Support other tasks and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
What should you bring
- Previous experience and knowledge regarding Romanian import and export rules and regulations and how to apply them to business goals and daily operations.
- Experience in working with Romanian customs authorities.
- Ability to organize and manage daily assignments and tasks according to priority and deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills
- Proven ability to deliver results by being both compliant and efficient.
- Experience with maintaining and using KPI’s/ metrics to manage and improve operations and processes.
- High knowledge and skills in use of Microsoft Office.
- Previous experience or knowledge in working with or within supply chain operations.
- Understanding of working in a routine based environment.
- Knowledge or understanding of working in a process oriented business structure and environment.
- University degree or equivalent experience.
- Fluency in English and Romanian are a must (written and oral).
