ESG Research Team Lead
Morningstar Sustainalytics is seeking an experienced Team Lead to join its ESG Sector Research Team (ESR). This position presents an exciting opportunity to lead a team conducting company ESG risk analysis, looking at ESG risk exposure, management and controversies, and generating ESG Risk Ratings for companies worldwide.
You will join a strategically important team and contribute to the development of a vibrant community of sector analysts. You will engage in continuous training and development programs which support your career development to become a top ESG analyst. The ideal candidate will have a background in capital markets, ESG and the energy and/or utilities industry knowledge.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate a team of analysts (i. e.
- ins, performance assessment, training, coaching etc. ).
Support team production and target planning, coordinates research and review assignments.
Propose and implement capacity building initiatives to ensure the team’s operational continuity.
Conduct research and analysis on company ESG risk assessments on companies in the Energy & Utilities sectors, reviews assessments of other team members.
Research and track ESG trends and issues relevant in your sectors of expertise.
Contribute to responding to client queries and support clients in integrating your research insights into their
- making.
Contribute to the development of intellectual capital and internal and external thought leadership.
Ensure successful implementation of projects and process improvements in coordination with Project teams.
Conduct and promotes content focused initiatives withing the research unit and ESR.
Engage and supports the team in engagement with issuers and/or clients, as needed, through the feedback process.
Provide support for the sector Director on a monthly/ad-hoc basis for reporting activities.
Ensure a collaborative and productive working environment.
Lead by example, engaging the team to achieve set goals and acting proactively to ensure smooth team operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree (CFA charter is a plus).
3+ years of experience in industry analysis, financial research, sustainable investing, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of the Utilities and/or Energy (Oil and Gas) sector.
Possess independence, critical thinking skills, and a passion for ESG investing, with a bias toward
- term fundamental research.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Strong communication and presentation skills (both in spoken and written formats).
Strong project management and execution skills and proven experience optimizing processes.
Work well within a team and be capable of respectfully accepting and providing constructive feedback.
