General Ledger Accountant with Payroll
Job Description
The finance team is crucial for maintaining financial health and stability. This team comprises accounts payable, tax and treasury, payroll, and investor relations. Together, they manage financial planning, transactions, compliance, and investor communications, ensuring the organization operates efficiently and meets its strategic goals.
The role of the General Ledger Accountant involves posting prepayments, accruals, payroll journals, reclassifications, performing PL review and BS reconciliation, following the processes in place, and applying the communicated controls, so that GL operational activities are conducted in a timely and efficient manner.
Responsibilities:
- Payroll processing for UK employees;
- Post payroll journals;
- General Ledger specific activities such as accruals, prepayments or other related postings;
- BS accounts reconciliation;
- P&L variance;
- Perform all payroll and GL activities in accordance with the SOX requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance or a similar area;
- 4-5 years prior work experience within the GL/Accounting/Finance area;
- Prior experience in a complex multinational and multicultural environment (desirable);
- Proficient in analytical thinking: Acquiring a proper understanding of a problem or situation by breaking it down systematically into its component parts and identifying the relationships between these parts. Selecting the appropriate method/tool to resolve the problem and reflecting critically on the result, so that what is learned is identified and assimilated;
- Attention to detail: Applying specific quality standards to all tasks undertaken to ensure that deliverables are accurate and complete;
- Demonstrates ability to

- skilled team; - Good teamwork ability and proactivity: Working collaboratively with others to achieve a common goal;
- Good at interacting with people: Establishing relationships and maintaining contacts with people from a variety of backgrounds. Effective and sensitive communicator in different societies and cultures;
- Can demonstrate the ability to act with sensitivity and discretion when dealing with issues of a confidential nature;
- Basic spoken and written English language skills.
