Your new role and environment.

The Java Tech Lead will be member of the Retail Operations, Marketing & Digital Strategy team, responsible to deliver digital solutions for Ahold Delhaize Group.

As Tech Lead you will guide a remote development team in the design, coding, testing and maintenance of Ahold Delhaize’s regional digital business solutions based on SAP Commerce (Hybris).

You will translate requirements created by product owners into architectural and design artifacts. The development team will use these artifacts to implement the solution. The Java Tech Lead will drive the selection of the most appropriate technical design for the stated business requirements.

You will also have to coach remote development team members and stay
-
- date with best practices and innovations in the market. This function is essential to support the evolution of our digital business in line with our IT strategy and to master knowledge of the applications and processes internally.

Key responsibilities of your role.

• Guides a remote Scrum team of developers and testers
• Designs and implements new or modified applications, in line with the Ahold Delhaize Group IT development, operations and security standards and guidelines
• Participates in delivering a
  - usable, configurable,
  - format,
  - channel ecommerce platform that is rolled out in multiple countries
• Helps establishing digital development & architectural best practices
• Ensures that the digital best practices and development guidelines are adhered to by all team members
• Coordinates and reviews the development work of external developers  
• Provides planning input by means of complexity assessments and drives effort estimations to allow project managers to materialize the project based on agile methodology
• Ensures all these activities are executed within the agreed planning, and continuously stays focused on delivering high quality solutions
• Conducts code reviews and performs validation of new functionality
• Partners with peers when integrating functionalities across applications and/or modules, ensuring a coherent application design as a result
• Provides 4th-line application support when required in liaison with the 3rd line application support organization
• Works
  - directed and independently
• Acts as subject matter expert to mentor and maintain corporate digital strategy across all team members
• Operates as expert in digital applications
• Follows applicable standards, procedures, guidelines and methodologies in the implementation and/or maintenance of the SAP Commerce (Hybris) platform

Requirements.

We think you’ll be best geared for success if you can meet the following requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology sciences, or any other discipline of technical orientation
• Experience in development of digital business applications is required
• Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) is required
• Good working and
  - on knowledge of Databases concepts
• Project development and delivery experience of a few good size projects
• Mandatory prior experience of at least 5 years in Java development
• Clearly demonstrate capacity to take a leading role while implementing a solution with a 6 to 8 FTE team
• Strong Java/JEE programming skills
• Excellent Object-Oriented software design skills
• Strong knowledge of design patterns, strong technical design background to guide the optimal evolution of the Ahold Delhaize’s digital standards
• Web services (SOAP, REST)
• Test driven development (Junit, Mockito)
• Good knowledge of peripheral tools (Git, JIRA, Confluence, Ant, Maven)
• Experience in troubleshooting of technical issues
