Winnow was founded in London in 2013 to help the hospitality industry prevent food waste through internet of things tools in the kitchen. We have worked with hundreds of sites and are operating in over 85 countries around the world supported by our offices in London, Dubai, Singapore, Romania and Chicago. - chip customers including Accor Hotels, IKEA, IHG, Marriott, Compass Group and many others.

Winnow’s clients on average reduce waste by over 50% by value and sustain savings. Winnow has now worked with hundreds of sites to reduce food waste, including hotels, universities and schools, staff restaurants, event/hospitality kitchens, buffets, pubs, and high street restaurants. Where the system is permanently adopted,
- consumer waste value is reduced by 50% - 70% with no detrimental impact to the perceived quality or value of the offer to their customers. This represents a typical improvement of food cost savings of 3% to 8%, commonly a 40%+ increase in profitability for operations.

Requirements

About the role

As you’d expect with any
- growing
- up, you’ll find an opportunity to apply and use your deep knowledge of infrastructure and software delivery to design and improve Winnow’s internal development platform and enable our teams to deliver secure software at speed.

Key responsibilities:

You will collaborate with software engineering and the data science & research team to:

• Deploy, automate, maintain, and manage AWS
  - based system to ensure our systems' availability, performance, scalability, and security.
• Build and maintain development platform and tools, improving the Software Development Lifecycle by making it simpler and easier for developers to deploy code to production.
• Recommend improvements for enhancing the performance of our systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and application deployment issues.

About you:

Education and experience

• You are likely to be
  - educated having completed studies in Computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or a related field.
• You have significant experience in the Dev
  Ops, Platform Engineering, or System Integration working models which will ideally include experience in a technology
  - up or a professional services environment.
• Essential skills:
• AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Linux & Networking fundamentals.
• Proficiency in shell scripting (bash) and working knowledge of one or more programming languages (Python or Go preferable).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform desirable).
• Experience with container and container orchestration technologies (Kubernetes or ECS).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Git
  Hub Actions, Bitbucket, Jenkins, or similar).
• Desired Skills:
• Good understanding of databases such as Postgre
  SQL & My
  SQL.
• Configuration as code (Ansible).
• Proficient in Observability tools such as New
  Relic/ Data
  Dog or similar, ELK Stack and Grafana.
• Experience in operating a complex
  - style system.

• JIRA, Confluence, Bit
  Bucket (Atlassian products), Agile team using Scrum or Kanban (each team chooses the best approach to drive results).
