Intro and description of the Role Description:

Leading the transformation and migration for the Global Business Units Cloud Services customers, our IES Network Operation group ensures smooth operation of Cloud network infrastructure elements for our hosted tenants, including implementing changes, monitoring, event and incident handling on a 24x7 basis. Ensuring Site UP is the top priority, we are laser focused on ensuring site reliability, performance, and security. Consisting of a group of experienced Network Engineers, the IES Network Operation group is the solid foundation of the infrastructure which enables top class reliability for Oracle Cloud Customers.

Required Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's Degree in technology related field or equivalent practical & demonstrated experience

• 5+ years professional experience in supporting carrier grade, IP based ISP, Webscale, and
- provider network environments.

• Demonstrated progressive increase in role specific responsibilities and associated complexities

• Advanced level knowledge of multiple network operating systems including Cisco IOS/NX-OS, and TMOS,  

• Operational experience with internet routing protocols and concepts, including but not limited to TCP/IP, BGP, i
BGP, EGP, MPLS, IS-IS, OSPF, Anycast, RHI, & Route reflection.

• Expert level automation and Dev
Ops type optimization experience including proficiency in a combination of Python, Ansible, Chef, Docker, Terra
Form, Perl, Java
Script, JSON, REST, i
Control, Bash, Yaml, XML, and i
Control
Rest.

• Advanced level knowledge of Layer 4-7 protocols including TCP, UDP, AH, ESP, SMB, RCP, TLS, SSL, HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, SNMP, SMTP, and SSH

• Advanced level experience in cloud environment support of Iaa
S, Paa
S, Saa
S, & LBaa
S offerings.

• Advanced level experience in capacity management, traffic engineering, and performance optimization

Additional preferred skills and experience:

• 3 + years of experience performing Peering, network design, customer turnup, provisioning, migration, and decom

• 1-2 + years Cloud based Network service design and management 

• Experience with Oracle Database, SQL Server, My
SQL, or PLSQL

• Experience in Traffic Management and Loadbalancing technologies

• Experience supporting DNS infrastructure services

• Experience operating in a Linux/Unix environment 

• 3+ Experience translating and managing the Incident to Problem Management workflow through a combination of process automation, defect cataloging, data warehousing, reporting and analytics.

• Practical experience with Apex, Oracle BI, Grafana, or Power BI for system analytics and reporting

• Experience with network system change management and release management programs.

• Experience with IP Network management tools and applications including IP Control and/or IPAM

• Demonstrated ability to define and measure performance of Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), KPIs, Operational Level Agreements (OLAs), and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

• Develop automated tools (preferably in Python) which helps to achieve operational efficiency

• Participate continuous improvement and engineering discipline maturity through Root Cause Analysis and Problem Avoidance.

• Keep up to date work instructions and other documentations

• Collaborate with peers and lead automation and innovation workshops for members of the extended organization.

Career Level - IC3

Participate in Network lifecycle management through network build and/or upgrade projects. Collaborate with program/project managers to develop milestones and deliverables. Will primarily use existing procedures and tools to develop and safely execute network change. However, may have to develop new procedures from time to time. Serve as technical lead for team projects. Contributes to the development of roadmap issues. Leads development of new runbooks and method of procedures. Mentors junior engineers. Participates in network solution and architecture design process. Responsibility for developing standalone features. Participate in operational rotations as either primary or secondary. Provide
- fix support for events. Serve as escalation point for event remediation. Lead
- event root cause analysis. Coordinate with networking automation services for the development and integration of support tooling. Frequently develops scripts to automate routine tasks for team and business unit. Serves as SME on software development projects for network automation. Supports network vendor software bug fixes. Collaborate with network vendor technical account team and internal Quality Assurance team to drive bug resolution and assist in the qualification of new firmware and/or operating systems.
