Senior Network Engineer | Hybrid | Large-Scale Enterprise Romania

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, manage and optimize the network infrastructure of a large Romanian enterprise with operations across 8 counties and 3 major operational centers. The role involves designing, maintaining and securing a network environment based on multiple vendors, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across multiple locations.

This hybrid role requires on-site presence and travel to various operational centers as needed. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network design, Microsoft Active Directory and cyber-security.

Key Responsibilities

Network Administration & Infrastructure Management:

• Design, configure, and maintain a secure, scalable, and highly available network infrastructure across multiple locations.
• Manage networking equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls and wireless controllers.
• Oversee the network lifecycle, including patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Implement network redundancy and failover mechanisms to minimize downtime.
• Assist with disaster recovery planning and network resilience strategies.
• Monitor LAN, WAN and VPN performance, ensuring seamless connectivity across all sites.

Network Security:

• Ensure network security best practices, implementing firewall policies, VLAN segmentation, access control lists (ACLs) and IPS/IDS systems.
• Perform regular security checks, vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
• Work with SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) tools to monitor network activity.
• Respond to network security incidents, coordinate investigations, and implement remediation plans.

Microsoft Active Directory & Integration:

• Maintain Active Directory (AD) services, including GPOs, DNS, DHCP, and user authentication.
• Integrate network services with Microsoft AD to ensure seamless user and device management.
• Support identity and access management (IAM) policies for network security.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience as a Network Administrator or Network Engineer in a
  - scale enterprise.
• Strong knowledge of network security principles, including firewall configurations, VPNs, and threat mitigation.
• Expertise in Cisco, Fortigate, Mikrotik networking equipment (switches, routers, firewalls, wireless).
• Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, GPOs, DNS and DHCP.
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e. g. PRTG, Solar
  Winds, Wireshark, etc. ).
• Industry certifications (e. g. CCNA, CNNP, HCIA, Comp
  TIA Network+, Cisco Cyber
  Ops certifications) are a plus.
• Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, CIS Controls) is a plus.
• Knowledge of cloud networking (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud) is an advantage.
• Strong
  - solving skills, ability to work independently and excellent communication skills.
• Fluent in Romanian and English.
