We are looking for a Team Leader to join the Core Technology Team. As a Team Leader, you will be directing and coordinating a team of software engineers who administer, develop, and support engineering tools within Garmin`s engineering group.
We believe that collaboration leads to the best ideas, and we rely heavily on team interaction. As a hybrid role based in Cluj-Napoca, this position will require at least 3 days in the office each week.
Essential job functions:
- Responsible for driving, coordinating, supervising and facilitating the work processes of Site Reliability engineering teams.
- Active leading or delegation the solution creation, effort estimation, development, and project implementation.
- Create, maintain, improve and provide needed resources to enable team members to do their work.
- Ensure efficient
- team communication and disseminate information coming from outside the group. - Adhere to Garmin Engineering SOPs and Processes.
- Demonstrate broad understanding of Garmin’s business model, including operations, production, sales and marketing.
Requirements
Technical:
- Strong experience working in a Linux Server environment.
- Demonstrated experience in Python or other programming language.
- Basic understanding of networking, TCP/IP, load balancers, IP addressing, DNS, and certificates.
- Knowledge or familiarity with opensource automation tools (Ansible, AWX).
- Perform and plan major version upgrades of software and hardware while complying with change control best practices.
- Collaborate and add value through participation in peer code reviews, providing comments and suggestions.
- Create and maintain programs and scripts and automate routine tasks where possible.
- Ability to prioritize among many competing business initiatives.
- Provide reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound
- solving techniques. - Support application server capacity planning, backups, and other
- based activities - 5+ years of relevant work experience.
Leadership skills:
- Proven experience in performance evaluation of team members.
- Ability to set SMART objectives for each team member that align with the team and organizational goals.
- Demonstrate mentoring experience in helping team members tailor their careers.
- Focus on efficient time and resource management.
- Demonstrate strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Skilled in feedback delivery for team members.
- Able to negotiate different aspect of product delivery with team members and stakeholders.
- Excellent English speaking and writing skills.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in leading teams of 4+ people.
- Strong initiative to find ways to improve solutions, systems, and processes.
- Have experience with working as part of an Agile (especially Scrum) team.
- Solid abilities in organizing, planning, and prioritizing team work.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience.
Would be a plus:
- Relational database experience (My
SQL or Postgre
SQL preferred). - Experience using Git/Git
Hub (or similar source code manager). - Knowledge on Dev
Ops and Agile tools such as Artifactory, Confluence, Jira, Gerrit, Jenkins. - Experience in Container and package manager technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge and experience in Agile project management and CI/CD deployment process.
- Demonstrates mastery of relevant software engineering tools (configuration management systems, build processes, debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers).
